BANDS AND ARTISTS: If you're thinking about visiting the U.S. anytime soon, you have to hear about a great music conference/showcase that is happening October 16-20 in New York--CMJ Music Marathon.
This conference has been going on in NY for 26 years, and really promotes discovery of new music, mainly in the rock/indie/alternative world.
CMJ is the bible publication of college radio programmers, and this festival (with over 110,000 consumers, 12,000 industry, 1,100 bands, 65 venues) really is all about emerging artists and networking. Some of the Australian bands that have played over the last couple years are Wolfmother, The Presets, Dappled Cities, The Grates, Eskimo Joe, The Drones, Architecture in Helsinki, among many others etc...
The Australian Music Office, as well as WAM will be lending more support around CMJ this year, and we think it's worth a look if you are thinking about coming over to the US around October. The deadline for submission is July 16, 2007.

To attend, Contact Tony George at The Australian Music Office tony.george@austrade.gov.au.
