International Pathways Grant

International pathways supports international touring by Australian musicians performing predominantly original Australian music. It assists with the development of markets and audiences through live performance where there is little likelihood of short or medium-term commercial success.

Tours must include a minimum of three paid performance opportunities. For one-off showcases and festival performance opportunities, see refer to the ‘live on stage – music international showcase program’ initiative offered by international market development, and for overseas skills development opportunities for professional artists and artsworkers, refer to the grant category offered by the music board, ‘skills and arts development (individuals and groups’).

Amounts

International pathways provides funding for costs associated with international touring up to a maximum of $20,000.

Total government funding (including your Australia Council request) must not be more that 50% of the total expenses.

Proposals from artists who are signed to a major publisher and/or major record company must show matching funding for the activity from the publisher and/or record company.

Live on Stage

Live on Stage is designed to provide travel assistance for professional musicians and their manager/ representative selected to showcase at key international music markets or international festivals. The program is designed to offset costs incurred by independent Australian musicians in developing international markets and audiences through live one-off ‘career-defining’ performances. In order to respond quickly to international showcase opportunities, there are no funding deadlines for this program.

Support is available to showcase at the following three key international music markets – South by South West (SXSW) USA; The Great Escape (TGE) UK; WOMEX World Music Expo, Europe.

Support is also available for career-defining performances at key international music festivals tied to developing career and market potential for musicians.
