National Funding for Australian Artists

 

Austrade, and a number of other organisations offer grants and funding to promote Australian music within Australia and overseas. Be sure to check with the providing organisation to get the latest funding programs, guidelines and deadlines.

Australia Concil

International Pathways Grant
The International Pathways program assists with strategic international artistic and market development activities by Australian musicians. It supports contemporary music activities where there is little likelihood of short or medium-term commercial success, but where the artistic and market development benefits can be clearly demonstrated.

Qualified funding activites include:

  • International touring and showcasing
  • Development of publishing and distribution networks for Australian composers and songwriters
  • Support for not-for-profit organisations in the international market development of Australian music and musicians

Presentation and Promotion Grant
Presentation and Promotion grants support one-off projects that present, publish, distribute and/or market Australian music. There are two sub-categories of Presentation and Promotion grants: Recording grants, winvolving recording, production, manufacture, distribution, and promotion of Australian music, and General grants, which supports gigs, promotional or concert tours within Australia, music festivals, artist showcases, publications and the marketing of Australian music. International marketing activities are included, however, support for international touring is sourced through the International Pathways grant (see above).

Contemporary Music Touring Program
In 2006-2007, the Contemporary Music Touring Program was allocated $1 mil over four years. The program supports touring opportunities for Australian musicians and increase audience access to live Australian contemporary music, particularly in regional and remote Australia.
