  • Sapporo City Jazz’s founder and director, Aki Yamauchi. Aki is the driving force of Sapporo City Jazz- a one month jazz extravaganza featuring over 50 Japanese and international artists and over 100 semi-professional/amateur musicians, which attracts an audience of each year. Aki is a strong supporter of Australian jazz musicians and has had 4 bands performing at Sapporo City Jazz in the last 3 years.
  • Swing Journal’s Hiroki Sugita is Japan’s leading Jazz critic and has been a disk reviewer for Swing Journal (Japan’s leading jazz magazine) for twenty years. A regular on radio, presenter and program writer, he has also published “Jazz Labels in Europe” and “Bill Evans Discography” in Japan. Also a member of the selection committee for the Jazz Disc Award and Music Pen Club Japan.
  • Disk Union’s Takashi Yamamoto heads up the Jazz section and specialist Label for Disk Union, which is one of the major music retailers in Tokyo region who specialise in Jazz. The label Takashi started has released various international artists including Hakuei Kim, Helge Lien and Clem.
  • Musician Aaron Chulai, is an acclaimed young Australian musician. Aaron was also awarded ‘Best Young Artist 2006” at the Australian Jazz Awards. He is currently researching at Tokyo University of Fine Arts & Music, and undertaking a range of collaborative jazz projects with both local and international jazz musicians.
